About Chris Obando...

Chris' love of music began when he was a boy being inspired from both of his grandfathers, who were accomplished musicians in their native Costa Rica. They both gave him the ambition to learn how to play an instrument at the age of 9; to which he began playing the alto saxophone.

Classically trained, Chris has played in concert, jazz, and marching bands in high school and at West Virginia University.  He earned many accolades as a solo musician and collectively with his fellow peers. He majored in civil engineering at WVU and still chose to play in "The Pride of West Virginia”, The Mountaineer Marching Band.

After graduating from WVU, Chris put down his saxophone and entered the real world as an engineer working for a private firm. Although he found his career very rewarding, music kept calling back to him. He knew that soon enough the urge to return to music would be too great to ignore.

When Chris was presented with the opportunity to learn to become a DJ, he jumped at the chance without hesitation.  Although he had never operated DJ equipment, he was eager to master it much like learning a new instrument. With his classical music training and overall knowledge of musical genres, the transition to becoming a DJ came naturally.

From private events to having a few nightlife residencies at venues like Porta Asbury Park, The North Brunswick Pub, Boathouse, Donovan's Reef, Cuzin's, Metro Cafe, The Shore House, Toms River Ale House, and many more - Chris continues to take his craft to new levels while offering SCE couples, companies and clients an amazing service loaded with value and fun.

If you are looking for someone who is passionate about music, fluent in Spanish, and that can provide that special touch to your next event, then look no further then Chris Obando.
